an exquisite Pochoir Print by Victor Max Ninon
(born as Vittorio Accornero de Testa)
This beautifully vibrant print, produced in the 1920s, depicts a couple sharing a surprise kiss
among a garden party. This piece is signed by the artist and numbered. The heavy stock
paper sheet that the artwork is printed on, is uncut and water marked on the back. The pochoir
method, used to create this piece, involves a highly refined technique of making fine limited
editions of stencil prints. Once printed, the piece would then be hand colored.
Italian artist Vittorio Accornero de Testa's pochoir creations came about early in his career.
In 1925 he obtained a gold medal for his pochoir work at the International Exhibition of Modern
Decorative and Industrial Arts. His career then transcends into illustrating and writing children's
books, set and costume designs, for cinema and theater. From 1960-1981 he collaborated with
the clothing designer, Gucci, to draw designs for his scarves.
