A wonderfully rare coin silver spoon set of 3 medallion pattern spoons. The two large matching serving spoons are Schulz & Fischer Medallion Pattern circa 1870. These coin silver spoons display the profile of a spartan-like man at the head of the spoon handle, with a floral motif on the spoons neck. The small teaspoon is marked 'H&S' (aka Hotchkiss & Schreuder) 'H&D Rosenberg' (Retail name 1865-1871) in the medallion pattern circa 1867. The sterling silver teaspoon displays the profile of a young man wearing what appears to be a floral crown, with floral motifs down the handle.
Hotchkiss & Schreuder were well known manufacturers of rare coin silver and Sterling. In 1857 David Hotchkiss and Andrew B. Schreuder created a new partnership 'Hotchkiss & Schreuder', silver wholesale manufacturers in Syracuse, NY. David Hotchkiss and Andrew Schreuder were in partnership from 1857 to 1871. Their last mark "H & S" in plain incised letters, was used from 1865 to 1871.
