Brought back from a tour of Europe, a visit to Versailles
Held within the original oval frame this antique reverse painting on glass is in spectacular condition, with foil and the appearance of "mother of pearl" behind the painted windows.
"My Grandfather fought in WW I. Every time I look at this painting I'm reminded of him.  
This family's keepsake will now will be passed on to a very special individual."
Armistice Day is commemorated every year on 11 November to mark the armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany.  
The formal peace agreement was reached in France, known as the "Treaty of Versailles". 
Woodrow Wilson, a leader of the Progressive Movement, 
the 28th President of the United States (1913-1921). 
After a policy of neutrality at the outbreak of World War I, 
Wilson led America into war in order to “make the world safe for democracy.”
