Whiting Co Sterling Silver King Edward circa 1901 Fluted Berry Spoon & Cold Meat Fork We are offering... An elegant 2 piece set by Whiting Mfg. Co., patented April 23, 1901. The serving spoon is adorned with a fluted, scalloped shell-shaped bowl. Both the cold meat serving fork and the berry spoon are detailed with the raised “King Edward” pattern. This set would be a lovely addition to any sterling collection. Charles Osbourne designed the “King Edward” pattern in 1901 for Whiting Mfg Company (Whiting Division). This is one of Whiting’s most desirable patterns. The Company was purchased and absorbed into the Gorham Company in 1924, continuing to produce the ''King Edward'' pattern until 2002. Charles Osborne designed silver for Whiting Manufacturing Co. in Providence, RI and then for Tiffany & Co. in NYC. He was a member of the Art Students League of NYC and was active in New York's community of artists. Osborne’s work can be found in the Metropolitan Museum. *Not monogrammed Markings: *displays the Whiting lion mark “Sterling” “PAT. AP. 23 1901” Approx.
