Antique 19th century German Hanau 800 Silver Tea Caddy Karl Söhnlein & Söhne We are offering... This highly detailed, beautifully shaped, heavy and ornate antique solid 800 silver Tea Caddy was crafted by the exclusive Hanau silversmiths Karl Söhnlein & Söhne. The hallmarks date this ornate tea caddy to 1888-1910. The caddy is adorned with playful cherubs wrestling in a grassy knoll, surrounded by blossoming trees. A whimsical castle sits far off in the distance. The convex sides of the caddy are similarly detailed, but with swirling flowered patterns and pairs of love birds. From the middle to the end of the nineteenth century, an amalgamation of older historic styles were designed to satisfy the tastes of the wealthy nouveau riche.
