As the description below states, these are very desirable modernist design earrings. These leaf shaped earrings are sterling with an oxidized patina. " an incredible pair of sterling silver earrings by noted New York jewelry designer, Paul Lobel. These fabulous earrings show the best of the artistry of Paul Lobel, who is one of the finest designers and makers of American Modernist jewelry. Lobel began creating jewelry in 1944 and exhibited it alongside the jewelry work of Calder and Bertoia, in the Museum of Modern Art's first Modern Jewelry Design show in 1946. More recently, his work was included in the Messengers of Modernism show and some of his pieces are illustrated in the it's catalog. These leaf design earrings are screwbacks and date from the 40's and measure just shy of 1 1/4 inches in height. Each earring is signed in the reverse - LOBEL and marked - STERLING.
