A beautiful, early American Ladderback Rocking Chair, with its original red paint, and original Hickory splint tape seat. This rocking chair is in a great original condition, with the Mid-Atlantic "cheese cutter" rockers original to the chair, not added on to an existing chair.
The tapered post rails end in lovely teardrop finials, that look fabulous with the shape of the curved slat backs. The woven hickory splint seat is in good condition for the age of this piece, and the original red paint makes this chair a very special American rocking chair. This would be great for any collector of American provincial furniture,
and early american handcrafted pieces. This piece comes with a vintage seat cushion, that ties around the legs and post rails.
