This is a 1940s Mexican Retablo on Tin, depicting a woman on her knees holding a votive candle
praying to a saint in the left side, who hovers above a woman lying in bed with a hand reaching out desperately.
In the background is a cathedral over a mountain.
The text translates to:
" I am grateful for the Santisima Mother for the good that you did for me when i invoked your name
because you removed a strong suffocation that was overtaking me a lot but you mother is always is with those who suffer
and my prayers were heard and now in action I give thanks, and dedicate this humble retablo to you and await your blessings.
Ma. Guadalpe Rangel, Leon Guanajuato. "
This piece is very nice, and the cut corners along with the bright border and overall colors make this a highly collectible
retablo. This would make a great addition to any folk art collection.
