1848 Pennsylvania Dutch German Family Brass Fireplace Trammel Dated 19th c 1848

 An important piece of Pennsylvania Dutch History from 1848

This is a Brass Fireplace Trammel with family name and date.

Engraved Family Name and date::Johann and Eliesabet Thulsen,  Anno 1848"

(please see photo for name & date, it is hard to read)

The central standard is hand engraved with a pierced floral and leaf design,

and engraved text: 

On the back of the Trammel are the applied stickers with the Provenance information. 

This piece is museum quality.

Approx. Dimensions:

Height:  open 58" including the bottom hook  closed:  39"

Width:  Sawtooth Trammel 2 1/4",  Ratched mechanism 5"

Condition:

This trammel is in very good original condition for it’s age,  with various old repairs to the brass parts from use.

Note:  the Pot suspension hook on the very bottom has been remade
