Still Life with Tea Pot and Fruit
Franks studied in Paris at Académie Julian and Grande Chaumiére.
He painted portraits and scenery for Vancouver theaters before settling in Los Angeles about 1936.
There he further studied with Fechin, Chamberlin, Will Foster, at Chouinard's and the Art Center.
Franks designed sets and titles the movie industry.
Franks died in Laguna Beach, CA on Nov. 11, 1970
Every summer, Laguna Beach, CA holds what is known as "Festival of Arts." This exhibit, tradition has been held every year for decades.
The original purchaser of this work by Leon Franks lived in Laguna Beach, California. We were lucky enough to know his son through our gallery and were finally able to purchase a few of his fathers paintings. We were pleasantly surprised to discover such talented work. Mr. Franks talent was a master, a natural, creating with ease such beautiful works of art. We are delighted to be able to offer you some of the nicest works from his collection. The son said that his father's collections came together in the 1940s and the 1950s.
Franks taught art at Los Angeles City Parks & Recreation (1949)
Los Angeles Businessmens Art Club (1955-56),
Laguna Beach Art & Design School (1962-65).
He was the author of several "How to Paint" books.

Condition:
The condition of this painting is excellent. I find no scuffs or chips or scraps or missing parts to the frame as well as the painting.
