A Lovely Rare example of a late 17th to early 18th c. Dutch Silver hinged Snuff or Tobacco Box.
This Silver box Still retains traces of old original gilt finish on both the interior and exterior.
This silver snuff box is Highly Repoussé in an oval shape
with the sensuous richness of the Queen Anne, Baroque style decorated subject matter,
This beautiful silver box is showing 3 to 4 hundred years of wear from use and handling.
This Silver oval snuff box has interesting wide and narrow reeded side edges.
One side of this silver box has a 17th c. Galleon Ship
with the Sun and Crescent Moon above.
The ship is Flanked by a Tree and a castle on the coast.
The opposite side is of a woman sitting in her garden
with her dog and a bird in a tree next to a fountain.
Her castle is in the background.
Condition:
Good condition for its age
shows 3 to 4 hundred years of wear from handling.
Old repairs to the hinge.
Hinge works well and closes securely.
