pair of Dutch 833 Silver Boy & Girl Salt & Pepper shakers.
The beautiful detail on these shakers reveal the traditional dress of
the period. The base of the boy reads "Volendam", while the
girl's base reads "Marken", which are both villages in the Netherlands.
The figures are made of cast silver and were manufactured for the 19th
century European Grand Tour market.
Kempen & Sons Voorschoten in the Netherlands were known to make
these Silver figural salts & peppers, however, we have been unable to
find Kempen & Sons marks on these pieces.
The girl figure has the 1814-1905 Dutch sword Hallmark (on her hat)
stating a minimum of .833 silver.
