A hand painted version of the Painting after the French artist,
Timoleon-Marie Lobrichon. (1831 - 1914)
Lobrichon was a well listed artist and known for his genre paintings of children.
The oil painting is painted on paper and laid on board
with a varnish. The frame is believed to be original to the painting.
There is a signature (after- Lobrichon) in the lower left.
The title of the painting "Le Bagage du Croque-Mitaine.
The French version of the bogeyman is known as croque mitaine,
which translates to "the mitten-biter" or "the hand-cruncher".
The bogeyman is a character used to scare children into being wiser.
